Treatment of Acne

The LA solution tends to decrease oil production and open sebaceous follicles. It contributes to the healing process of pustular acne. After the LA peel procedure, but before the application of OPC Reparative Gel, comedone extractions can be performed very easily. Continue with the Theraderm Skin Renewal System.

It is helpful to allow time for the acne inflammation and/or infection healing process to be completed before following with another LA peel. Please allow at least 3-4 weeks between peels, the skin should be completely re epethililzed, before further peeling.

The LA peel can be used as a preparation for 20% or 35% TCA peels used either on the full face or peri-oral or peri-ocular areas. This will enhance the depth of the TCA peel and decrease the irritation associated with TCA. Applying one layer of LA solution prior to application of 20% TCA will give the effect of a 35% TCA peel. The benefits of this combination include:

• Quicker healing time.
• Decreased likelihood for hyperpigmentation and other complications associated with TCA.
• Less irregular edges and more evenness in peel.
• Less rawness and burning than with TCA alone.
• One half to one third duration time for pinkness.

If an LA peel is applied and followed with 35% TCA, results are equivalent to a 50% TCA peel. This is very effective for treating moderate wrinkling. If this combination of peels is chosen, we recommend using a cotton swab to rub the TCA peeling agent in the direction of the crease to ensure adequate penetration.
